The courtroom is not where the court office is

The court office is on the lower level of City Hall. The courtroom is on the second floor, in the Council Chambers. People routinely go to the wrong one and arrive late.

Evening docket

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and proceedings begin at 6:00 p.m. on scheduled Tuesdays. Get there early — parking around City Hall on a court night fills up.

The clerk window closes early on court days

Normal clerk hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but on court dates the window closes at 3:30 p.m. If you need something from the clerk on the day of your setting, go in the morning.

Appearance rules

Appearance is required for accident-related citations. It is optional for standard violations paid in advance — but a DWI is not a pay-in-advance violation.

Your license case is not heard here

Whatever happens in Kirkwood Municipal Court, the Missouri Department of Revenue is running a separate action against your driver’s license, and it does not wait for your criminal case. You have 15 days from the date your Notice of Suspension (Form 2385) was issued to request a hearing, and the Department states that missing it means no hearing and no further appeal.
