What to know about this court
First-come, first-served — arrive early
Dockets are called in the order people check in, not by appointment. Doors open one hour before your court time. Showing up at your stated time can mean waiting a long while.
The dress code is enforced by bailiffs at the door
The court publishes an explicit list: no extremely short mini-skirts or short-shorts, pajama pants, spaghetti straps, crop tops, exposed midriff, pants below the waistline or exposing underwear, dirty clothes, slippers, bare feet, halter tops or tank tops. Bailiffs will stop you from entering. If court staff find you improperly dressed you may be asked to leave and given a new court date.
Security
All persons must pass through a metal detector and are subject to search before entering the courtroom.
Attorneys must e-file everything
Local Court Rule 21 requires electronic filing of all pleadings through Missouri Case.net.
If you cannot pay
The court offers installment payment agreements and states plainly that you will not be arrested for not having money to pay your fine on your court date. Not appearing at all is a different matter — a warrant may issue.
Your license case is not heard here
Whatever happens in Florissant Municipal Court, the Missouri Department of Revenue is running a separate action against your driver’s license, and it does not wait for your criminal case. You have 15 days from the date your Notice of Suspension (Form 2385) was issued to request a hearing, and the Department states that missing it means no hearing and no further appeal.
